SO what if? A lot of buzz on the blogs saying this move could put McCain in the white house.. Taking my on personal survey of locals here we know that want Obama..reflects this feeling of McCain would get my vote. How do you feel about it? I need step back and regroup on what matters here and what can I do to best make that happen..

  11. crazy…….kind of falls in with what we were talking about the other day. people and groups really are evolving into something harder to define in many cases.

  12. sarahs Mom said

Yup. I think so. It intersting to watch the evolution happen in real time so to speak.

  13. sarahs Mom said

Well the dem party is imploding..and McCain my take on Romney.. ms Rice has been quoted as saying she is not intersted in the vp position.
One thing,to remember.. this time next week everything could be diffrent.

  14. stuff does seem to change allot in just one or two days

  15. sarahs Mom said

People lose their perspective during elections and especially this one.It brings out the ugly and the foolish in us.

I read an article talking about how younger voters in the evangelical world have abandoned the fight for the un-born and are more interested in tattoo’s and Africa.. they suffer from fetus fatigue …its sinful and needs repentance…the author says..

From what I have read..I feel confident to say this isn’t the case.

What the younger people and a good amount of people my age are tired of is, an un productive method to increase the value of life in our country and the world… Its that Art of War rule again.. don’t become loyal to a method of change.. be loyal to the change. If the method isn’t working ,change the method… I think a lot of the young people are embracing that right to life is important at every age….that right doesn’t end at birth..

At one time in our beloved, God fearing land.. Women and children had very few human rights. hopefully you married a man that was kind. When a group of people are not respected as equals..bd things happen most of the time.

So why did the laws change in our country? The laws were changed because a large percent of the population, who did not work in government saw the injustice and said .. No more. The laws that came to be were the end result of a collective shift in thinking.. and never the other way around.

Real long standing change doesn’t happen in Washington or the courts system. Thinking that placing “Godly” leaders in office is how to make real change ,sounds good on paper. The political Evangelicals from back in the day of Jerry Falwell,. Pat Robertson, and Focus on the family ..may have good intentions on the abortion issue .. but bad methodology ..Cherry picking what part of life is most important is flawed. They say they -value all life but their voting records and messages don’t reflect this. I cant help but think these people would have been pro- slavery because the bible supports it. I just learned that Pat Robertson and his like .. formed there politic groups not because of abortion ,as we have been told …but because of Bob Jones universities class action lawsuit that they got slapped with.. because they would not let blacks come to the school…

It later they decided to fight abortion and gays

I think most of these people would have been anti-womans right to vote.. and could of backed this up in the bible too. Because the husband is her covering (its in the good book for petes sake!) and should make those important decisions.

I am encouraged and exited to see the young say this isn’t ok.. Its not working.. and I am glad some of my fellow old folk agree and want to be apart of this change!

  16. hmmmm i just saw a sermon/rant of obamas mentor Jeremiah White. It made me very very uncomfortable….the sentiment was very simalar to some of obamas ideas in his first less presidential book. I would really like to see obama suround himself with people that at least publicly aviod making race a primary issue in the ellection. Especially angry and unfair generalizations.

  17. sarahs Mom said

So you read Obama books? Awsome.
I could not agree with you more on that point. Its disapointing..

Well its very clear race is still an issue…

That idiot the introduced John McCain that went on a rant about his middle name Hussen..

And Clintons supporter Geraldine.. who talked about obamas color as being the reason he is sl liked.. Maybe but I can honeslty say.. if Obama was white with the same message and ideas .. he would have my vote. If he was a women..he would have my vote.. BUT if he ends up on the same ticket with Clinton.. well… he doenst get my vote..

Look up The treaty of Tripoli. For space sake I have Article 11 and 12.. It clearly talks about not being a christian nation.. and not having any issues with Muslems.. or spelled Moslom men. and so forth. Rod Parsley eat your heart out!

    Can this be proven wrong?

Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Art. 12. In case of any dispute, arising from a violation of any of the articles of this treaty, no appeal shall be made to arms; nor shall war be declared on any pretext whatever. But if the Consul, residing at the place where the dispute shall happen, shall not be able to settle the same, an amicable referrence shall be made to the mutual friend of the parties, the Dey of Algiers; the parties hereby engaging to abide by his decision. And he, by virtue of his signature to this treaty, engages for himself and successors to declare the justice of the case, according to the true interpretation of the treaty, and to use all the means in his power to enforce the observance of the same.

Signed and sealed at Tripoli of Barbary the 3d day of Junad in the year of the Hegira 1211— corresponding with the 4th day of November, 1796

  19. sarahs Mom said

A quote from John Adams.. Does this conflict with the treaty?

The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were. . . . the general principles of Christianity. . . . I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God; and that those principles of liberty are as unalterable as human nature. 25

  20. The church Obama is affiliated with is super creepy…..just as creepy as romney’s mormans or huckabee’s bible thumpers

  21. sarahs Mom said

The denomitaion (United church of christ)..is not creepy what so ever..

However.. The pastor at Obamas church.. I guess he just retired.. non the less Is very creepy to me.. He claims to not be apart of the black seperatist movment but you can hear a few of his sermon on youtube and they do indeed sound racist in some ways.. .I think Hillary is the only one who does not have creepy religous leaders in her life.

I know Obama publicly rejected Mr Farikan.. And the black seperatist movment. And I do not beleive for a second that he could be in the position he is in if he was some over bearing racist.

So the question is.. how does this effect Obama as a leader? or a President? His voting record does not reflect black seperatist leanings.I still believe he is a good leader and could be a great president.

but..I perdict McCain will be our next president.. Even though he has very creepy christian leaders backing him and he changed his stance on water boarding. It will be a sad loss for the down and out in our country Obama would of been the man for this.. And Our image would of been improved. Maybe McCain will help that .. I dont know.

  22. While the over all denomination united church of Christ might not be creepy…….trinity united church of Christ is super creepy. Obamas specific congregation regularly breaks away from the over all united church of Christ. The denomination as a whole is classified as open and affirming concerning glbt life styles and marriage. Obamas congregation is not. I dont know much about the pastor that took ove rin feb, but Obama has attended the church for more than 20 years. He was married by the pastor who also baptized both of his daughters.” The audacity of hope” is taken from one of the pastors sermons. It’s much more than a passing affiliation. To me it seems very duplicitous to make religion such an issue in regards to Romney McCain or huckabee while minimalizing obamas involment in a church that to me seems hateful and divisive. It’s a double standard that does nothing in promoting separation of church and state or actual change in American politics. I grew up attending churches that placed mandates and non negotiable issues at the fore front of what it means to be a “true Christian” Obamas church and its “black value system” is so reminiscent of the dogmatic drivel ive witnessed in racist white churches that you could almost switch the words “black and “Africa” with the words “white” and “Israel” for use as a value system template in fundamentalist churches. Change and unity my white devil ass.

Let me give you a little analogy. lets say.. I live on a planet that is dependant on but one space ship… and one captain and one crew to bring food, medical ,and goods,
So ..the bummer part is.. The space ship has some serous issues.. It’s a fuel guzzler and looks hideous .. .the other bummer is.. the option of crews and commander are disappointing and even insulting to my convictions as a person… However. I personally can afford to with hold my vote based on personal conviction .and or disapproval of their religion…because where I live on the planet has plenty of food and medical supply and goods…. Meanwhile.. there are a lot of people on MY planet that are hungry and sick and in need of supplies ..They dont care about such things… they just want to eat and live. When I realize this…… .my priority of why and how I vote shifts dramatically…. With the options we have ,I start thinking who best can meet the needs over all. My priority is not my personal convictions but of meeting basic needs of as many as possible.. maybe this is my personal seperation of church and state on could say.. One good thing we do have set up is.. No captain is king .. He does not have the power or ability to force anyone to believe as he does or live by his religious standings.. My obligation is for the good of others.. meaning to work with what we have for the good of those who have not. especially when no one should have to go with out on our planet or any planet!.

My not wanting Romney or the Huckster has not been based on the wacky religions. I don’t like there policies at all…. I do acknowledge that I mocked the fact with Romney is more in line with the religious right then any other candidate and knowing how the right feel about Mormons Ha.. good times.

On behave of the needy in our country and the world.. .. I do not feel we can afford to pick and choose based in personal ideology or not be involved because we don’t like the options. Its so easy to do so when you are not with out. But that’s selfish. My way about the election is not very American I guess.. but it feels more Christ like. Love your neighbor as yourself .. love your enemy.. ya know that stuff.

    As it stands..

    We have

Obama.. that is a part of this creepy church, has been for 20 yrs…. but has good ideas.. that seem to meet with the needs of this moment in time.. He appears to be able to work well with other in other countries’
He has some solid ideas for helping the those in need. .not perfect in all areas but good on most.. And restoring our role in world.. and our own country.. like not so free with outsourcing..

We have McCain.. Not attending a church for 20yrs that is creepy.. but is very happy to be endorse with no disowning of the white equivalent to Obamas Creepy church. I do not see a lot of hope or change for our schools or training programs or medical care. or mortgage problems or jobs. .I am not sure how he will be viewed in the world. I fear other leaders will see Bush in him.

And then Hilldog.. I just see 4 yrs of quagmire.. lots of internal drama. not a lot being done and no real respect from other countries. And more tax payer money going down the drain…The thought of Bill ,Hilary and the poor VP she picks Oye. I mean come on.. she doesn’t need a vp with Bill. around. . . Bush has left us such a mess in most all the areas that matter.. I don’t think we can afford that kind of drama.. But on the upside. She has no affiliation with creepy churches that I am aware of.

And in closing.. on a side not.. you are so brilliant at writing out your thoughts.. You are a writer Shelby! I am very impressed and very proud of you!

  25. Well…….first of all let me clarify the entire non productive and tiresome point of my argument. I’m not saying that Obama should not be president because of things his pastor said. I think there are far more insightful reasons not to vote for Mr. Obama. My point is that concerning his involvement in a fundamentalist congregation, you are cutting him considerably more slack that you would give to a politician surrounded by mentors espousing the type of fundamentalist beliefs that fill the pages of your library on spiritual abuse. As far as Obamas clean up efforts are concerned, I’m not impressed. When he said he wasn’t in the church on any of the particular days that Wright made inflammatory comments? Please….. It reminded me of Clintons famous “but I didn’t inhale” comment. Lame. Also his attempts to distance himself from Wrights views on race seem rather convenient and of the moment. If you have serious misgivings about the beliefs of your pastor why stick around for twenty years? Why have him marry you? Why have him baptize your children? Why take your books title from one of his sermons? Why invite him to be a part of your African American spiritual leadership board? Obamas spin control and his actions over the last two decades seem to contradict each other. Not to mention that in Obamas first book there is a definite tone of anger and mistrust concerning other races. There is a pattern here. I don’t think Obamas completely unfounded promises to feed the hungry and insure the sick warrants looking the other way when it comes to serious questions regarding his ability to unite the American people. I mean you do realize that voters on the other side of the soap box use the exact same logic to vote for people that despite creepy links espouse there over all belief system? Yeah I know he has ties to racists whacko’s but he’ll over turn roe v. wade ect.The fact that many conservative voters vote with their hearts and follow their moral compass into the booth does not excuse the actions of republican politicians. Nor do your beliefs about what Obama may or may not do for the poor do anything to undo his affiliation with Jeremiah Wright.

i really love political banter im just bummed that my only choices for president are obama, hillery, and mcain.it seems pretty clear to me that they all have serious flaws and fear is going to be the main motive for most peoples votes.

I would like to hear your insightful reasons.

    ———————————————–
I am not blind in this. I do see this church as a fundamentalist church. I am very sad . This could strongly effect his influence to the rest of the world and cause division in our own country… I am processing it all still ..I agree .. why stay at a church like this.. and his reasons do not make sense .. this situation has some unique factors. I know it maybe wishfill thinking on my part.. but I will lay it out later.
    ————————————————
Not to mention that in Obamas first book there is a definite tone of anger and mistrust concerning other races.
    ————————————————
Ummm no Shelby. I respectfully disagree that this is a telling point of concern.. I read both his books too. And think some of his observations in book one are very true.
    ————————————————
don’t think Obamas completely unfounded promises to feed the hungry and insure the sick warrants looking the other way when it comes to serious questions regarding his ability to unite the American people.
    ————————————————-
Again I disagree with you on this.. He has a public record of meeting the needs of all race of people. In innovative ways.. this fact was a big plus for me.
    ————————————————-
I mean you do realize that voters on the other side of the soap box use the exact same logic to vote for people that despite creepy links espouse there over all belief system? ————————————————
I whole heartedly agree with your statement.. BUT this is NOT what’s going on here.. And here is the part of it all, that I mentioned earlier, that makes this unique… Issues that are very important to me he supports’ and they are issues that his church does not support in anyway shape or form.. I have not had
a situation like this before.. Its not the same as excepting the fact that some republican Politican is involved with a whaco church.. Since he and his church agree with me I will let it slide for the greater good.

Maybe it’s the same to you… but it doesn’t seem the same to me and makes me want to learn more about Obama and his afflation with his church.. Clearly more is going to comeout about this situation.. I want to hear it all out.

How can he have the public record that he does and belong to this church.. I can think of a couple answers .. I need to find this out for myself as to why before I resign to the fact he is a whaco.. And honeslty most of the black values are really good values to have and needed. Some of it…………not so much

  29. Well I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. I see a double standard, but of course I have plenty of those my self so what do you do? If Obama is elected I hope im wrong and he does a great job.

  30. sarahs Mom said

I am good with that :) . Bottom line, we both want whats best for our country and our world.

Thanks for a good banter… I always feel more resolved or silly that I thought a certain way about something :) . its a good reality checker.

oye.. so I just left the UCC website.. read about UCC trinity.. then read the comments.
and there it was.. this dichotomy.

If I didnt have this bum back.. I would serously Fly to Chicago and attend the church with questions at the end.. For a few reason one being Obama.. I have been listening to the podcasts and love what the wierdo preacher has to say.. Its just Odd .. he claims his church is open and affirming.. Preaches alot on social justic and sounds like they are very pro active in the poor parts of chicago and we are all gods children.. WHAAAATTT???

  31. sarahs Mom said

I am waiting for tomorow.. for Mr Obama to explain himself. It will be interesting..

  32. uhhhm k how did you feel about his speech?

  33. sarahs Mom said

    Obamas Speech. Honest.Realistic.Progresive.

I want to revisit your statement Shelby
“I mean you do realize that voters on the other side of the soap box use the exact same logic to vote for people that despite creepy links espouse there over all belief system? Yeah I know he has ties to racists whacko’s but he’ll over turn roe v. wade ect. The fact that many conservative voters vote with their hearts and follow their moral compass into the booth does not excuse the actions of republican politicians.”

After hearing this speech today and spending the weekend listening to podcast. I believe my gut feeling was right.
I am not picking a Pat Robertson, because …..he is going to deal with my moral value issues.. So I turn a blind eye to his homo phobia issues. .Obama is flawed like everyone else.. I stopped seeing any man or women as
being superior or do no wrong ..a long time ago.

I am not looking for a messiah. I am looking for honestly and a more realistic way to deal with our country issues.

I felt my questions were answered today.. I felt I learned some things today.. I am not settling when I vote for Obama. Finally a candidate to just call out what is… warts and all. If I like it or not.. The good and the bad.
There are cultural differences here.. Its undeniable. To ignore and act as if.. Is not helpful.. We have been trying this method for a long time..

Kind of a change in topic here.. but it ties in..

In my effort to distance myself from the denomination.. I was a part of .. I have picked up one of the things I resented in that denomination.. That ugly “us and them mentality”.. Like it or not this mentality never makes change for the good…. It is counter productive. I have to say.. its very easy and comfortable to point out the evils and yes I literaly mean evils..draw a line and live in an us versus them world.. .but not so easy or comfortable to be productive and involved in making changes ,where I see injustice and wrongs… especially when we have been traumatized and hurt .

P.S I am very encourages to see some positive change in my old denomination.. I will not be joining them any time soon .. But I do want to be more involved in changing the climate of our Christianity in the country and not be only an arm chair critic.

Obama seems to have a different way to deal with the ugliness of his church and prejudice then I have with the church a left and their prejudice. .. I separated myself from this group of people.. He seems to stay involved with the community and yet sets a new progressive standard… I think this is a trait of a good leader.. We cant distance ourselves from ourselves in our country. .That’s been a major problem. I want a candidate that can work with what is and yet move forward. No pretence.. Not holier then thou… but a leader that calls thing out and says.. it is what it is. Lets come together and moveon for the greater good..

    That’s my criteria..

  34. Wow…….I strongly disagree. Whatever is in BO’S Kool-Aid must be Amazing!…k… I’ll keep my comments brief and focus on the aspects of the speech that I found to be the most disturbing…..

#1I can no more disown [Wright] than I can my white grandmother–a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe

K…… uhhm way to exploit your grandma. I’m guessing she revealed much of this to him in private conversations. Tacky…..THERES NOTHING BRAVE about comparing her personal feelings to wrights racist rants.

#2For the men and women of Rev. Wright’s generation, the memories of humiliation and doubt and fear have not gone away; nor has the anger and the bitterness of those years.
That anger may not get expressed in public, in front of white co-workers or white friends. But it does find voice in the barbershop or around the kitchen table. At times, that anger is exploited by politicians, to gin up votes along racial lines, or to make up for a politician’s own failings.
And occasionally it finds voice in the church on Sunday morning, in the pulpit and in the pews. The fact that so many people are surprised to hear that anger in some of Rev. Wright’s sermons simply reminds us of the old truism that the most segregated hour in American life occurs on Sunday morning.

uhhhhm since when was private family dialogue around the kitchen table the same as making speeches to congregations of thousands and then selling said speeches on DVD?

I don’t see any thing progressive in using past incidents of racism to justify current hate mongering.

im not really sure where to start but here goes, obama is a good speaker from the telepropter and as politicians are known to do he spun the story to look like an attack on him. the reason he can be criticized for the views of this man is that he himself appointed him to be the spiritual advisor to not only his life but also his campagn. if he is pursuing the highest seat in the world he better be able to choose people better than that he double spoke about what he knows about what that man believes. the fact is that wright is a racist if any other candidate had a person with his kind of views as spiritual advisor they would be done. as far as his claim of continuing segregation theyer are 114 black colleges in america, black owned companys are not required to hire an appropriate number of other races. as far as church is concerned hes a politician so hes gunna attend one of them and they are all easy targets black white or otherwise though this particular churches affiliation with farakan is a bit disconcerting to me. he addmited that he cant fix the problem and in my view he cant see the problem except through the same old eyes that people have been using for a long time its true that anger is a big problem but not recognizing that the black culture of spewing that kind of crap is to many that hear it justification for the bad lives they lead. in exactly the same way the KKK uses crap to insence the dogs that think they are part of a better race so by that i think a different choice of churches would be better. my biggest issue is sadly that obama is just another politician same old stuff nuthin new.

Jump in any place Steve P :)

I am standing behind what Jim Wallis says in his response to Obamas speech today.please read it of you have time.. it addresses one of your key points Steve… I have his link above your post

As far as spiritual advisors We have had.. Pat Roberstons, Jerry fawell,James Dobson, and so on.. I think they were/are as messed up.

You maybe right about same old stuff..I dont see it that way.. only time will tell, if he gets the office.

  38. Amen preach it white devil!
As for jimbo’s lil rant…….uhm not so much.

k………….I know rich old white guys make a super sweet whipping boy for anyone with a blog some fashion frame glasses and an Oxfam membership but im sorry, this is not their fault. This piece by Wallace is the flimsiest bit of deflective rhetoric I’ve read in quite some time.

“Rightwing media machine” uhhm….no. k I feel pretty unbiased in this for two reason #1I myself am liberal.
#2 I have eyes and ears. The media is overwhelmingly liberal. Come on Wallace.

The insinuation that Obama is our last chance for peace, change and harmony is absolutely a form of fear mongering. Educated, Progressive, Christian, liberal, individuals such as Mr. Wallace spend a great deal of time poo pooing the fear mongering tactics of people who don’t share their niche politics. I can’t count the times I have been in conversations involving the implication that people of low intelligence i.e….non progressive liberals are motivated by fear. Mr. Wallace has misjudged the intellect of those who disagree with him if he thinks his hypocritical use and simultaneous disapproval of fear mongering in this piece are not painfully obvious.

Finally jimbos insistence that the fears, racist tendencies and the over all ignorance of white America are to blame for any hitches in obamas presidential campaign are simply untrue. If obama fails to connect with voters it will be because the public learned that he was mentored by a hateful racist. It’s a pitifully cheap shot to essentially say…….he was doing so well but racial tensions hurt him. No his affiliation with a racists, anti American blow hard, hurt him. Big difference. ……..big difference.

Shame on Wallace and his attempts to implicate misgivings concerning obama and racial ignorance as one in the same.

Shelby, good commentary. You hit some key points that Dad and I had been discussing this evening. Dad is wondering what people would do if McCain had a KKK member for his spiritual advisor. Would it be taken as “just the way white people are” ?

Brenda, I do hear what you are saying, but I must disagree.

Okay–I probably have no business on the political blog–especially not at almost midnight!

  40. well……. whatever happens with obama and his mammas….this lil banter fest has really taught me something about myself……i really dont like discussing politics or politicians. I loath the tone i take on and the things i say, oh man i really just dont like it. Also while i really am creeped out by obama its not like i have a solution……i really have zero faith in hillary or mccain so whats the point of focusing on my dislike of obama? in the mean while i should probably chill out and do something about the issues that all three of these losers use to pit Americans against eachother

Its not a color problem ..its an attitude problem.
We can say… well look at them ..They can say, well look at you. And then what? We spend years living in a stand off. The more people grow tired of the stand off, the more we will get past it.
I really appreciate what you are saying Shelby. And I like what you said about changing focus and doing something about the issues.
The real positive change that happens in our country ..doesn’t come from the white house, it comes your house and my house . We cant loose sight of this.

Cindy .. We can agree to disagree. :)

My heart goes out to Tibet.. And I hope we as a country boycott China.. I cant believe we are so deep in debt to them! “sigh.”. bringing back a little 80’s slang.

Brenda, even though we agree to disagree on some things I really admire the fact that you do so much research and I can learn so much from listening to your thoughts and ideas. I love having so many different perspectives here.

I totally agree about where the real change comes from, and yep, that’s where our time and focus really needs to be. I’ve been thinking so much abou that lately. In fact, Shelby and I were discussing that yesterday and talking about ways we can volunteer to help create a change.

The situation with Tibet is worrisome. As cliche as it sounds, even though I sincerely mean it—I’m praying for them.

Thank you for your kind words :) I think our response to an issue is more important then the issue itself in some ways.. Its the most telling of how we view out world.

I would love to hear some of the volunteer ideas you and guys came up with. I know Shelby mentioned being an advocate for foster kids. That is dear to my heart since I was a foster kid for a year. Its such a need.

Douglas w. Kmiec just endored Obama for the same reasons I do. I may seem crazy in my thinking about obama.. but I keep finding others far more in the know then I …that seem to be as crazy as I am ;)

Douglas W. Kmiec (b. September 24, 1951) is an American legal scholar. He is the Caruso Family Chair and Professor of Constitutional Law at Pepperdine University’s School of Law. He served as head of the Office of Legal Counsel (U.S. Assistant Attorney General) for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush,

Man, I have been out of the loop!
My god when will we stop having to defend peoples stupidity. I really like Obama, but if I really liked McCain and his pastor was a KKK member I d kick him to the curb. Although in my opinion Obama’s speach was done very respectfully.
I am really excited for our country to be discussing our huge problem with racism. We really need to address this problem on so many levels.

What’s up with Hillary—being MISTAKEN that she was shot at by snipers????? OMG!

Josh, I’ve been out of the loop too (nothing new for me) and heard a little yesterday.

Josh have you heard the 9/11 sermon by Rev. Wright? We cant really have a authentic conversation if we don’t listing to his sermons first hand. I am hunting down the God Damn America sermon.. Its not apart of the controversial 9/11 sermon .the 9/11 sermon is about 36 minutes long.please listen to it.then lets talk.. Using the KKK as an example is not accurate in my opinion.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said yesterday that the United States still has trouble dealing with race because of a national “birth defect” that denied black Americans the opportunities given to whites at the country’s very founding.

“Black Americans were a founding population,” she said. “Africans and Europeans came here and founded this country together — Europeans by choice and Africans in chains. That’s not a very pretty reality of our founding.”

As a result, Miss Rice told editors and reporters at The Washington Times, “descendants of slaves did not get much of a head start, and I think you continue to see some of the effects of that.”

“That particular birth defect makes it hard for us to confront it, hard for us to talk about it, and hard for us to realize that it has continuing relevance for who we are today,” she said.

    slacktivism March 28
The act of participating in obviously pointless activities as an expedient alternative to actually expending effort to fix a problem.
Signing an email petition to stop rampant crime is slacktivism. Want to really make your community safer? Get off your ass and start a neighborhood watch!

Cindy here it the run down on this book We the purple.

In We the Purple, Marcia Ford describes “Purple” voters as independent citizens who are neither red nor blue, Republican nor Democrat. By using interviews with independent voters, politicians, political observers and activists of many stripes, Ford explains how these voters eschew partisan politics and instead are guided by their core values, their faith, and their experience. Many Christians, like Ford, are independent voters, and won’t simply settle for one or two issues identified by politicians and religious leaders as issues of sole importance. If you’ve ever felt disenfranchised by the policies of the left, the absolutism of the right, or the politics of both, We the Purple is the perfect solution for taking your faith into the American democratic system.

Watching Bill Clintons behavior during this election.. wow.. to me he seems to be the poster child for Andropause. Bio-identical hormons would do him a world of good. I am not kidding about this. He seems so emotional and out of control of his feelings.
