obesity on the prairie….. a random post
January 30, 2007
Because i listened to a story about little house on the prairie on this american life last night i decided to spend my evening reading the best volume in the series, farmer boy. I remember when we were kids and this book was read to us we loved it and we really wanted our own set of oxen to break in. well now that im all grown up and i have an oxen sized dog of my own this book is still great i guess once a home schooler always a home schooler if i ate butter i would sooo make it myself …but one thing stands out as crazy. no not the fact they worked from sun up till sun down or that they did this work in 40 below zero temps. the truly crazy part of this book is the food these people put down! out of control!!! its amazing it all sounds so good especially if i was working and it was cold and i had a sister named eliza jane…… in a 24 hr period 8 year old almonzo consumes…..
breakfast

Off to Dublin…
January 30, 2007
Well, on Thursday I am being sent to Dublin by my work for a seminar. No- not the rolling-green-hilled far away place Dublin, the east bay Dublin, near Oakland.
I’m going to a workshop on “Managing and Diffusing problem students and their parents” so I don’t know if I’ll be learning mediation techniques or Kungfu-like ninja moves. Maybe a little of both if I’m lucky. Although, I do think it’s odd that out of the entire Alternative Education program myself and a single administrator have been chosen to go. I mean, really? If you needed to “diffuse” an angry person are you really thinking “let’s call Sarah so she can try out her new kungfu-ninja moves”? Probably not. So I guess that means it’s a mediation thingy which is a bit less exciting (although very very important, mom.)
Alright that’s it for now.
Oh- has anyone else been having nightmares about Josie taking over the internet?
